About
Encaustic : the ancient art of painting with molten beeswax, damar resin, and pigment. The medium is alive in its fluidity, luminous in its depth, and endlessly surprising in the way each layer reveals or obscures what came before. It’s both forgiving and demanding, inviting experimentation while challenging me to embrace imperfection and discovery.
I’ve always been drawn to storytelling through visuals. After earning my BA in Broadcast Journalism at Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communications, I followed my curiosity into art school and began a career in design. For many years, I worked as a graphic designer and art director with brands like Eddie Bauer, REI, Microsoft, and Nickelodeon.
During that time, my personal art practice sat quietly on the sidelines while I poured myself into my career. Everything shifted in 2018 when I discovered encaustic. The luminosity, texture, and layered depth of the medium sparked something in me that I hadn’t felt in years.
It wasn’t until 2024 that I had the time and capacity to give my own creative voice space to grow, and I shifted my focus fully to encaustic painting. Today, my work is about exploring transformation, transparency, and the beauty of what lies beneath the surface—one layer at a time.
